Neal Williams, CPA MPAcc (tax), President
Neal is a native of Washington State, born in Mt. Vernon, WA, and raised in Seattle, WA. Neal graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Central Washington University and a Master’s Degree in Public Accounting from the University of Washington. After college, he began his career at a local CPA firm in Silverdale Washington before coming to work for Hearthstone CPA Group in 1997 as a staff accountant. He worked his way up in the firm, eventually becoming a shareholder of the firm in 2003 and president of the firm in 2020.
Neal provides accounting and tax services for individuals and small to mid-sized businesses. In addition to helping clients meet their tax reporting obligations, Neal uses his 25+ years of experience to assist with starting new businesses, implementing tax saving strategies, setting up retirement plans for their businesses, and navigating the ever-changing tax laws.
Currently living in Bremerton with his wife Michele and daughter Elizabeth, Neal spends his spare time being a husband and father, starting new hobbies, and volunteering his time. Neal is Treasurer and board member of Silverwood School, an independent school located on an idyllic 17-acre campus in Poulsbo Washington that engages students with a project-based and hands-on curriculum.
Christopher Cook, CPA, CFP®, Vice President
Chris has been with the firm since 1995 and became a partner in 2003. He provides financial planning, accounting, and management advisory services to businesses, individuals, estates, and trusts. He specializes in forensic accounting, financial and tax planning, estate planning, and estate and trust tax preparation for fiduciary clients.
Chris earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Central Washington University. He also earned Bachelor’s Degrees in International Studies and Political Science from the University of Washington. Chris is a Certified Financial Planner(r) and Chartered Global Management Accountant. He is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Since 2006, Chris has actively served on the board of the Peninsula Community Health Services. He has been elected to several terms as board president and treasurer. Chris enjoys playing piano and traveling internationally with his wife Sandra.
Larry Hurley, CPA, Secretary
Larry Hurley has over 30 years of public accounting experience. He specializes in providing audit, accounting, and tax services for many clients in the multi-family housing, construction, and not-for-profit industries.
Larry received formal audit training at a nationally recognized certified public accounting firm. In addition to working directly with closely held businesses, Larry also works personally with individuals to help them minimize their overall tax liabilities.
Beyond providing traditional CPA services, Larry has experience investigating business fraud and has been hired to provide expert testimony in this area. Larry is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Dina Chavera, CPA, Shareholder
Dina earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Western Washington University. She began her accounting career at Ball & Treger in 1991. She became a Shareholder of Hearthstone CPA Group in 2019.
Dina specializes in accounting and tax services for many local businesses, mainly medical and dental practices.
When not working, Dina and her husband Randy enjoy travelling and spending time with friends and family.
Sheila Lott, CPA, Shareholder
Sheila joined Hearthstone CPA Group in 2005 as a Staff Accountant and became a Shareholder in 2019. She has over 20 years of experience providing QuickBooks consulting, accounting and income tax services to individuals, small businesses and governmental entities.
Before joining the firm, Sheila graduated with honors from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration and worked with a CPA firm in the Seattle area for several years.
Sheila is a Washington native and has lived in Kitsap County for many years with her husband, son and too many cats. She enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
Michael Lind, CPA, CFE, Shareholder
Mike has been working at Hearthstone CPA Group since 2011. He has over 20 years of public accounting experience with small and nationally-recognized firms. His experience includes both accounting and tax services.
Mike specializes in partnership and corporation tax returns, as well as federal tax planning for businesses and individuals.
Mike was raised in Southern California and moved to Port Orchard, WA, in 2007, with his wife Terry. Mike enjoys reading, running trails, and watching Seahawks Football.
Megumi Ueda, CPA, Estate & Trust Manager
Megumi currently specializes in taxation for individuals, estates and trusts, and businesses. Since joining Hearthstone CPA Group in 2001, she has served our clients in a wide range of tax, audit, and accounting services.
She received her business degree from the University of Washington with honors, and obtained her CPA license in 2002. Prior to that, she gained financial service experience working in banking, mortgage lending, and technology.
In her spare time, Megumi likes to cook, go on hikes, watch movies, and hang out with family and friends.
Nenita Matney, CPA, Audit Manager
Nenita’s experience includes public accounting and focusing on audits, grants, and reviews of for-profit, nonprofit, and governmental organizations. She also handles cases related to A-133 audits and Form 990 preparation.
Nenita has worked in excess of 5,000 hours on contract with the Washington State Auditor’s Office. Her experience also includes tax preparation.
Nenita received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida with honors. She also earned an Associate degree in Bank Management from Alvin Community College with honors. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Joseph Manjarrez, CPA, MS, Tax Manager
Joe earned his CPA license in the early 1980s. He graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in business and a minor in accounting. He earned his Master’s Degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. He has over 40 years of experience, all in CPA firms.
Joe is an experienced and insightful tax planner. He emphasizes planning, looking beyond the necessary “score-keeping” to potential opportunities and pitfalls. Income tax compliance is very important, but he thinks the most important and rewarding service he offers is helping clients change and control their financial outcomes. He is a proactive and reliable part of their team and thinks of that as “financial engineering.”
Joe concentrates on business taxation, primarily at the corporate, partnership, construction, and real estate levels. He also reviews and prepares complex individual income tax returns, estate taxes, and gift tax returns for high net-worth individuals. Joe has extensive experience in tax research and preparing state tax returns, including multi-state income tax returns.
Joe is a Washington native who was born and raised in eastern Washington. He currently lives on Fox Island with his wife Corinne. He enjoys watching baseball, playing golf, and sailing. He also volunteers at the Allenmore Medical Foundation and the Gig Harbor Golf Club serving as the Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committees.
Michelle Richie, Staff Accountant
Michelle joined Ball &Treger in 1999 as a Staff Accountant, and after the merger continues to work at Hearthstone CPA Group in the same capacity. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Washington Tacoma. Michelle has been providing services in the fields of business and individual taxation, QuickBooks, bookkeeping and accounting.
Michelle has been a resident of Kitsap County since 1996. She currently lives in Seabeck with her family. In her time away from work, she enjoys time with family and friends.
Sarah Andresen, Staff CPA
Sarah has over 20 years of experience in public accounting working on audits and reviews of financial statements, as well as tax services for corporations, partnerships, non-profit organizations, employee benefit plans and individuals. Sarah received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Washington.
Sarah is a life-long resident of Kitsap County and is now raising her two kids here. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities as well as spending time with friends and family.
Jimmy Zheng, Staff CPA
Jimmy joined the firm in 2014 as an intern before being hired on full-time as a Staff Accountant. He received a Master’s in Professional Accountancy from Central Washington University, and received his CPA License in 2015. Jimmy primarily works with small businesses and individuals doing tax planning, tax return preparation and bookkeeping.
Outside of work, Jimmy enjoys cooking, traveling, trying out new foods and spending time with family and friends.
Olga Martemyanova, Staff Accountant
Olga graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration. She began her career with Hearthstone CPA Group as an intern and joined the firm full-time as a Staff Accountant after graduation in 2014.
During her years with Hearthstone CPA Group, Olga has gained diverse experience in accounting, tax services for individuals, corporations, nonprofits, and partnerships. Additionally, she has focused on preparation of audits, reviews and compilations for non-profit and for-profit organizations. Outside of accounting, Olga enjoys exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest and capturing its beauty with a camera lens.
Robin Andrews, Staff CPA
Robin joined Hearthstone CPA Group in 2015. Prior to that, she worked as a CPA in public accounting and at a private university in Gig Harbor and Tacoma. In 2006, she received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Central Washington University, and has been a CPA since 2008.
She specializes in providing tax services for small businesses, individuals, estates and trusts.
A long-time Kitsap County resident, she moved to Bainbridge Island when she was in high school, and has lived in Poulsbo and Bremerton ever since, while raising three children with her husband, Mark. She enjoys home improvement, gardening, bicycling, knitting, crocheting, spending time with her family and traveling in an RV with Mark and their cat.
Kristine Luttrell, Staff Accountant
Kristine has over 20 years of full charge bookkeeping and administration experience, and has been a Staff Accountant with Hearthstone CPA Group since 2017.
After receiving a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Washington, Kristine worked in the marine construction industry and served as Controller / Office Manager for some of the leading yacht repair centers in Washington. Kristine has extensive experience in payroll services, payroll taxes, and bookkeeping services.
After living in Seattle for over 15 years, Kristine returned to her native Kitsap County, because of the beauty the area has to offer. In her downtime, she’ll spend hours in her garden and playing with her two dogs.
Lily Scoville, Staff Accountant
Lily joined Hearthstone CPA Group in 2020 as a Staff Accountant. She graduated with honors from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
After starting her career at Hearthstone CPA Group, she has quickly gained intensive experience in various accounting fields, especially in taxation. Lily grew up in the Caribbean, and currently resides in Bremerton, WA. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and their four Guinea pigs.
Loren Antonio, Staff Accountant
Originally from Yakima, Loren moved to Seattle in 2008. While there, he graduated from the University of Washington in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology. In 2016 he moved to Kitsap County and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Western Governors University, which he earned in 2021. That same year, Loren joined the team at Hearthstone CPA Group as a Staff Accountant specializing in Audit after working seven-and-a-half years in the banking industry.
Loren lives in Silverdale with his family and he enjoys singing karaoke, eating good food, gaming in various forms, exercising, and Huskies and Seahawks football. He is excited to be with Hearthstone CPA Group and is eager to incorporate his banking and customer service experience to best serve his clients.
Stephanie Swanson, Administrative Assistant
Stephanie joined Hearthstone CPA Group in 2020 as an Administrative Assistant. Her duties include supporting Hearthstone staff and customers with their needs. Before working at Hearthstone CPA, she worked with the Fleet and Family Support Center on Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor. Prior to that, she worked as a medical transcriptionist for over 20 years.
In her spare time, hobbies include photography, knitting, and gaming.
